S.H.Nalaka Priyantha. I am 24 years old medical student who live at Elapatha in Ratnapura. Now, I study at Faculty of Medicine, Ragama, Sri Lanka.

A herd of wild elephants (Elephas Maximus Maximus) in defense formation in the Uda Walawe National Park.



This National Park is now more or less synonymous with elephants seen in all their playfulness whole herds of them adults and babies, bathing and playing in the water or feeding. For the bird watcher too this park is an ideal location. Udawalawa N/P falls into the Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Ratnapura and Monaragala Districts. It occupies 30,821ha.

The route to Udawalawa from Belihuloya is through Balangoda, Godakawela, Pallebedda and Thimbolketiya is about 56km.
